Jonathan Dawson-Bowman

Position: Associate Director - Birmingham

Management Team

Jonathan joined the practice as a Part II Assistant in 2015 following his studies at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and BCU. He qualified as an Architect in 2018 becoming an Associate in 2021 and made an Associate Director in 2024.

He has gained considerable experience in the design and delivery of a wide range of projects in the mixed-use, residential, leisure, and education sectors (primary, secondary and university). This includes refurbishment/new build/mixed projects, projects on live premises and – within the education sector – projects with challenging DfE budgets and requirements, always ensuring that projects are delivered to best practice standards.

He was the Project Architect on the mulit-award-winning School of Architecture and the Built Environment at the University of Wolverhampton, which was also shortlisted for both The RIBA Reinvention Award and the AJ Building of the Year. It is a landmark project for both the University of Wolverhampton and the practice for which Jonathon received the RIBA West Midlands Project Architect of the Year Award. In addition to navigating the coordination of a new build with a listed building, the project was delivered to a tight deadline.

He was also involved in the delivery of the UK’s first University Training School – a school providing facilities for student teachers to learn in a live school environment. Jonathan also has extensive experience on a variety of residential schemes that include refurbishment of existing buildings, tall buildings, and the use of Passivhaus principles in design and construction. He has experience working on the restoration or heritage and listed buildings – at present he is leading our project at the Grade I Old Curzon Street Station as part of the new HS2 station in the city centre.

He also sits on the practice’s marketing working group, inputting into marketing and business development strategies.
