Health Future University Training College Opens

Yesterday saw the grand opening of Associated Architects’ designed “Health Future University Training College” in West Bromwich. The event was attended by many of the building’s partners including the NHS and the University of Wolverhampton, staff, students and all involved in the design and build of the project.

The new facility was officially opened by Lord Baker, Chairman of Baker Dearing Educational Trust who cited “What has been achieved here is excellent. Health Futures UTC should be used as model to be rolled out across the country”

Health Futures is a unique institution, being the first health-focussed UTC in the country. It is proving extremely popular and set a record for the largest first year student intake of any UTC when it opened its doors in September 2015.

Joe Belcher, Associate and Project Architect for the college said “It is fantastic to have been involved in creating this inspiring learning environment, maximising the potential of the brief and the site. Today it was a privilege to meet some of the new students who clearly have such high aspirations for the future and are enjoying using their new building.”

The project was delivered with BAM Construction, and developed through stakeholder engagement with 21 different partner organisations in the fields of public and private sector health and social care.
