Associated Architects is a design led architectural practice founded in Birmingham in 1968.
Recently completed landmark buildings reflect the practice’s position in the commercial and cultural life of Birmingham and the region.
Associated Architects is driven by a simple objective - achieving better buildings for its clients: an objective reflected in the number of national and regional awards it has received, including 18 Royal Institute Of British Architects awards and 5 Civic Trust Awards. Associated Architects Worcester based project Cobtun House was most recently awarded the RIBA Award for Sustainability.
For more information about the RIBA and the awards scheme please visit: www.riba.org.
The practice has developed skills in urban design, interior design, building conservation, project management and planning supervision (CDM). It has a broad range of expertise in diverse building types including education, commercial, arts, leisure, housing and healthcare and aims to lead sustainable design in the region.
A principal is directly involved throughout every project and leads a team of highly trained and motivated staff.
The practice undertakes a range of exercises from brief development, site analysis, urban design studies, all contributing to the building design itself. This is tackled in a way which combines rigorous analysis with a creative approach to problem solving and a high degree of visual awareness. Imaginative solutions are then resolved technically and implemented to achieve maximum value in the broadest sense.

Sustainability
Associated Architects aims to lead sustainable design in the Midlands and to contribute positively to the national debate. The practice is committed to raising the level of understanding of this important issue, its holistic application and its ability to add value to projects.
The practice believes that architects have a vital role to advocate “green” design in leading and co-ordinating the many different inputs required. Equally important, sustainability is an opportunity for excellence in architectural design. Many of the practice's sustainable schemes have won design awards, and it is the current holder of the national RIBA Sustainability Award.
The practice has contributed to many sustainability conferences, workshops, books and government best practice publications, and has received ISO 14001 Environmental accreditation.

The practice has implemented Quality Assurance systems and is register certificated under ISO 9001:2000. The aim is to produce a reliable and effective method of working which is flexible and without excessive complications and paperwork.
Health and safety
Associated Architects employ a Planning Supervisor who is a Technical Safety Practitioner of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety, and offers health and safety consultancy services to it's clients. The aim is to make improvements in health and safety for all parties to the process of building procurement, construction and life cycle.
